Lyons Shops Public Space Refurbishment

Territory and Municipal Services (TAMS) are preparing for the future refurbishment of the public spaces of the Lyons Shops.

A Lyons Shopping Centre Forward Design Study is being prepared as the first step to find out what the Lyons community wants for their shopping centre and what they consider important. A key part of this Study is consultation with the community on issues such as the needs of pedestrians; traffic calming and lighting; landscaping; parking arrangements and artwork.

The Forward Design Study site includes the Preliminary Sketch Plan and Report that are available to download.

A public information and consultation day on the draft preliminary sketch was held at the Lyons shops on the 16 May 2009.

For more information about the Forward Design Study, please contact Anne Breckwoldt, Territory and Municipal Services, phone: 6207 7490 or email:

Eddison Park Youth Recreation Facility

The ACT Government has announced that it will use the $2 million grant from the Commonwealth Government’s Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program allocated to the ACT, for a dedicated youth recreational facility for Eddison Park and upgrades to Glebe Park.

The Eddison Park Youth Recreation Facility "could include a performance stage for events such as Youth Week, art display areas, skate facilities and play equipment such as a climbing net. Interactive areas such as volleyball and basketball courts and a flying fox could also be part of the new recreational facility.

"The ACT Government will consult the community about how they would like to use the youth facility before any decisions on infrastructure and upgrades are made."
