The WVCC welcomes the changes to the WOVA development but believes there are some further improvements to the design to be made.  WOVA is a significant development and it is important that great outcomes are delivered to the Woden community.

The Woden Valley Community Council has concerns about this development proposal.

While the WVCC supports development (eg Ivy, the proposal for the Alexander and Albemarle buildings) and welcomes the activity more people in Woden brings, this development is not appropriate for the site. The size and density is too much for Woden and it overshadows residents in Lyons. There is no need for 4 residential blocks (798 apartments) on 1.1 hectare (one of them is a 24 storey tower from Launceston

Although the Woden Valley Community Council (WVCC) supports development and investment in Woden we do not support this residential development for a number of reasons, including overshadowing of the east west pedestrian spine and the lack of compliance with the Woden Town Centre Master Plan and the draft variation to the Territory Plan for the Woden Town Centre.
